World Power Lifting: 11 athletes, 5 officials depart to Dubia

 

 

Charles Ezenwanne, President of Para Power Lifting said that 11 athletes and five officials on Tuesday departed to Dubia for the World Para Power Lifting Championship.

Ezenwanne told the News Agency in Lagos that the championship would serve as qualifiers for 2024 Paralympic in France.

“We have prepared very well for this tournament.

“A week before our departure, the athletes have been in closed camp.

“They are physically and mentally prepared for the championship and all the athletes are in good spirit.

“Our prayer is that there should not be any major injury before or during the championship,“ he said.

He said that all the athletes selected are best in their various categories.

According to the President, the championship will hold from Aug. 23 to Aug. 29, in Dubia, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

It was reported that nine female athletes and two male will represent Nigeria in Dubai for the championship.

They are Esther Nworgu in the 41kg category, Latifat Tijani 45kg, Bose Bejide 50kg , Onyinyechi Mark, 61kg, Lucy Ejike 67kg and Kafilat Almaruf 73kg.

Others are; Bose Omolayo in the 79kg, Folashade Oluwafunilayo 86kg, Loveline Obiji 86kg, Roland Ezeruike 54kg and Thomas Kure 65kg.
