Preliminary report on Gas explosion at 13C Palmgroove Estate, Cappa Avenue

Upon the arrival of LASEMA Response Team, Cobra Squad at the scene of incident, it was discovered that a gas cylinder used in filling an outdoor Ac split unit of a storey building got exploded as a result of gas leakage from the cylinder.

However, a male adult lost his life and three adult male sustained different degree of injury but have all been taken to the hospital before the arrival of the LRT.

LASEMA Response Team, LRT, the Nigeria Police Force and LASG fire fighters were responders at the scene of incident. All the occupants were evacuated and the scene of incident cordoned off to prevent any secondary incident as there are visible cracks on the walls and pillars.

Post disaster assessment conducted and Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA was contacted for further action.

In addition, after responding to the Gas explosion, the LRT headed to Sifax inward Ijora for truck accident. The Cobra Team discovered
that a truck with unknown registration number conveying a 20ft container lost control while on motion as a result of reckless driving and fell on another truck with unknown registration number thereby obstructing vehicular activities .

However, no loss of life nor injury sustained at the scene of incident. LRT, LASTMA, the Police Force and FRSC were responders at the scene of incident who worked together to evacuate the accidented containerized truck off the road with the aid of the Agency’s heavy-duty equipment (Goliath). Road has been restored to normalcy.
