The 2023 World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender Lagos served off to great fanfare on Monday.
The competition began with the qualification round as Nigerian players enjoyed mixed fortunes across categories.
Rilwan Akanbi, Amadi Umeh, Emmanuel Augustine, Adeola Oloruntade and Abdulasis Abdulfatai managed to progress to the next stage of the qualification series in the men’s single.
The qualification round will take place throughout the first three days, and the main draw later in the competition.
TheCable had reported that over 120 players from 25 countries will vie for $75,000 in cash prizes across all categories.
The competition will hold from June 12 to 18 at the Molade-Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall in Lagos.
