A storey building in Igede, within the Ifelodun/Irepodun local government area of Ekiti state has collapsed.
The collapsed building led to the loss of a 13-year-old girl’s life leaving four injured.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) revealed this in a post on its X handle on Wednesday, October 1.
NEMA disclosed that after inspecting the scene it was noted that the building was a mud house under the disguise of cement.
The statement reads: “A storey building in Igede town collapsed on Tuesday 31st October 2023 The house which was occupied by the family of Mr Lanre Olagunju was noticed to be a mud house which was later cemented.
“As at the time of the incident, Mr Olagunju and his family were in the house, a 13-year-old girl named Ifeoluwa died as a result of the incident while Mr Lanre, his wife and two other children are currently at the General Adebayo Hospital, Iyin-Ekiti receiving treatment while the body of late Miss Ifeoluwa had been deposited at the mortuary.
“The house and 4 adjourning buildings are noted to be dilapidated and would have to be demolished to avert future collapse.”
