Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Europe Russia (NIDO) has distanced itself from the fraudulent activities of an individual named Godwin Ibe, who has been spreading false information under the guise of NIDO Russia.
NIDO Russia’s Chairman, Sampson Uwem-Edimo, stated during a virtual meeting that the organization has noticed several instances in which Ibe has deceived the public by presenting himself as the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Russia.
Uwem-Edimo clarified that Ibe has never been a member of NIDO and therefore cannot claim to be its chairman. NIDO is taking legal action to prevent Ibe from using their trademark and operating a website similar to NIDO Russia’s.
The organization called on the press in Nigeria and Russia to exercise caution and avoid promoting Ibe’s fraudulent activities.
Meanwhile, NIDO Russia’s First Chairman and Board Member, Dr. Ayo Ojajune, revealed that they are aware of the individuals behind the fraudulent acts and have the means to address the situation.
He expressed disappointment that some people are tarnishing their name and emphasized that they will use their resources to deal with those responsible. Additionally, Continental Chairman of NIDO Europe, Dr. Bashir Obasekola, labeled the situation as disheartening and urged the Nigerian press to disregard fake news. He emphasized the importance of promoting legality and avoiding any negative impact on the country’s image.
In conclusion, NIDO Russia has publicly disassociated itself from Godwin Ibe’s fraudulent activities and deceptive behavior. With legal action already underway, the organization aims to prevent Ibe from further misleading the public by using their trademark and operating a website similar to NIDO Russia’s. The organization also called on the press to exercise caution and not promote Ibe’s fraudulent actions. Many members of NIDO expressed disappointment over the situation and stressed the need to address the issue and protect the organization’s reputation.
