Covid-19: BAF Sets Up N1 Million To Support LGBT Community


Following the impact of COVID-19 on Nigerians, Bisi Alimi Foundation (BAF) has set up N1 million Naira relief fund to support the Lesbian, Bisexual Gay and Transgender (LGBT) community.

disclosed this to Upshot in an Interview on Friday.

According to her, the impact of COVID19 on the LGBT community in Nigeria has been devastating. This is why we set up N1million naira relief fund to support the community. The fund will go towards food, medications and essential good.

She told Upshot that the maximum money to give out is N50, 000 while minimum will be N10, 000 respectively. “The money is meant to cater for their immediate needs such foodstuff, drugs etc’, she said.

“So far, we have gotten 500 applications. We shall examine the applications carefully to know if the people applied actually belong to LGBT community.

” We opened the fund will open today Friday 8th of May at 9am and it will close on the 22nd at 7pm. We shall ensure we reach out to the people that need the fund” Judith said.

The organization emphasised that the money is to provide support for LGBT people in Nigeria during this challenging times.

It would be recalled that Bisi Alimi Foundation (BAF) is an organization that established to accelerating social acceptance of LGBT in Nigeria.
