A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of a 34-year-old man, Theophilus Philip, in a correctional centre for malicious damage.

The Chief Magistrate, L.A Aina, gave the order after Philip pleaded guilty to wilful damage of a T4 bus engine, belonging to one Emmanuel Effiong.
Philip was arraigned on two counts of malicious damage and breach of peace.

Aina, however, adjourned the case until May 15 for fact and sentence.
The prosecution counsel, Insp. Edet Ekpo, had told the court that Philip allegedly committed the offences on April 26 at about 6.00 p.m., at Badagry, Lagos.

Ekpo said that Philip wilfully damaged the engine of a T4 bus in his care, property of Effiong, the complainant.
The prosecutor said that he conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by pouring salt in the engine of the bus.
The offences, he said, contravened the provisions of Sections 350 and 168 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.
