Mr. Sola Osolana on Monday, won the House of Representatives ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Agege Federal constituency of Lagos State.

Recalls that the PDP House of Representatives rerun primaries in Lagos state was a result of the cancellation of the same exercise held on May 22 across the state.

Mr. Nuru Shehu, Chairman, PDP Federal House of Representatives Primary Electoral Committee in Lagos state said that four candidates contested the primaries held at MM Hotel, Agege.

Shehu declared Osolana the winner after polling 21 votes of the 30 accredited voters.

He pronounced Osolana candidate of PDP for Agege federal constituency in the 2023 election.

“Mr. Sola Osolana got 21 votes of the 30 valid ballots cast and I declare him the winner and our candidate for Agege in 2023.

“Out of 34 delegates, 30 were accredited and voted while four others were not present at the venue,” Shehu, the returning officer, said.

Shehu said that another contestant, Mr. Oluwaseyi Sarumi polled 9 votes, while other aspirants, Princess Tolulope Akinwonmi and Mr. Oluwole Adedapo polled zero votes each.

In his acceptance speech, Osolona commended party leaders for their trust and promised to put the people first if elected in 2023 to represent the people of Agege.

Solana, who described the primaries as peaceful, appreciated all his contenders for sportsmanship.

“Everybody deserves to win, everybody deserves to represent Agege under PDP in 2023 but only one winner will emerge.

“My message to other aspirants is for us to come together because we are in the same party.

“We should build reconciliation so that we can go out in full force in 2023.

Also commenting, Sarumi, one of the contestants said that the outcome of the primary was all about democracy.

“The delegates have spoken, what is next is for us to prepare for the general election to rescue the nation. We need to unite and change this country.,” Sarumi said.

In her reaction, Princess Akinwonmi, who described the election as not too bad, said, however, that she had some reservations about the process.

“I am one of the few women that are out there for good governance. The party will still decide at the end of the day because we are going to maintain the call for equity and women’s inclusion.

“The party interest for me is supreme and I will be working with whoever the party will conclude on because our focus is the 2023 election,” she said.

The primaries were monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the local security agents were all present during the primaries.
