Former Finland football great, Jari Litmanen, has overcome a novel coronavirus infection, saying in a podcast released on Monday that he went through four difficult weeks because of the illness.

“I have probably never felt in a worse physical state,’’ Litmanen said in the podcast of a Finnish bookmaker.

Litmanen 49, said he went through “fever, headaches, muscle pain, respiratory problems and all sorts of things,’’ during the period he spent in his house in Estonia.

However, Litmanen also said he was never that ill that he had to be admitted to hospital and that was all but fully recovered for a while now.

Injury-plagued Litmanen is best remembered for his two terms at Ajax, highlighted by the 1995 Champions League crown.

He also had stints at Barcelona and Liverpool, while earning 137 Finland caps.
